About this qualification:

The Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course offers theoretical and hands-on instruction in First Aid techniques particular to newborns and young children from the age of one year old until the beginning of teenage years. Learners will gain familiarity with the responsibilities of a paediatric first responder and be able to evaluate and respond effectively in an emergency.

Course Content: The roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider

  • How to assess an emergency situation and act safely and effectively
  • How to provide first aid for an infant or a child who: is unresponsive, is in shock, is wounded and bleeding, is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and/or cold, has a suspected fracture or dislocation, has a head, neck or back injury, has an airway obstruction, has conditions effecting the eyes, ears or nose, has a chronic medical condition or sudden illness, has sustained an electric shock, has burns or scalds, has been poisoned & has been bitten or stung.

This course is designed for adults who work with or care for young children and babies, such as teachers, playgroup leaders, childcare providers, au pairs, nannies, and child-minders. It is also the perfect course for participants pursuing an RQF in childcare and Education.
